Muzzle Loader

The club’s Muzzleloader discipline keeps the “boom” and smoke of antique rifles alive with individual practice and monthly matches on the Black Powder/Silhouette/Rimfire range. Matches consist of six 30-minutes relays fired offhand or from cross sticks at 25, 50 and 100 yards, with five shots per relay. Any firearm qualified for hunting under an Oregon Muzzleloader tag can be used, with peep or open sights.  Ammunition must be loose powder under a patched round ball or plain lead conical bullet. In addition to sanctioned matches, muzzleloader games include such “string-cut” shoots and other events not found anywhere else in the club.
